The first Toastmasters Club launched in South East Asia is The Bangkok Toastmasters Club which is also the first Toastmasters Club in Thailand. The Club was officially chartered in December 01, 1955 by Mr. A.W. Altken.

Since it is the community club, its members are people from all walks of life, such as managers, teachers, retirees, doctors, sale-persons, civil servants, students and housewives. The purpose of the club is to help members gain personal growth and self-actualization through the Toastmasters educational program and activities in the most constructive and fun-filled environment.

The Mission of the Club

The mission of a Toastmasters Club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.

How does Bangkok Toastmasters Club work ?

BTC meeting is a " learning-by-doing " workshop in which men and women can hone their skills in a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. Our club has about 20 - 30 members who meet weekly to learn and practice public speaking and leadership techniques. The average club meeting lasts approximately two hours.

All guests are cordially welcome to our club regular meeting to find out whether Toastmasters International program can help you achieve your goals.

Upon joining the club, you will progress through a series of 10 projects, designed to introduce a basic foundation in public speaking.

When you have finished with the basic speeches, you will go to a higher level by selecting 2 manuals at a time from the Advanced Communication & Leadership Program. This program has been designed to train you for speaking situations you will encounter outside the club environment. They are altogether 15 manuals as

various organizational levels.

Communication and Leadership Tracks

    The Toastmasters educational program consists of two tracks- a communication track and a leadership track. As a new member, you most likely joined to participate in the communication track since that is where you learn speaking skills, But you are encouraged to challenge yourself even more and participate in the leadership track , too The two tracks are not mutually exclusive and you can work in both at the same time. Both also provide recognition for specific accomplishments. The diagram shows the award progression in each track.
